Ashley Bennett earns art award in Best of SUNY exhibition

2016 Jun 16

Ashley Bennett of Brewerton, a December 2015 bachelor of fine arts degree recipient at SUNY Oswego, earned Honorable Mention in the 2015-16 Best of SUNY Student Art Exhibition.

Bennett, who majored in studio art and minored in illustration at Oswego, was among just seven students recognized from around the 64-campus State University system during a June 13 reception at the New York State Museum in Albany.

"The Best of SUNY exhibit highlights the impressive artistic talents of students from throughout our university system and serves as an inspiration not only to SUNY's administration, faculty, and staff but to all those who visit the New York State Museum," said Chancellor Zimpher. "Again this year, I am in awe of the student works selected for this summer's exhibit. Congratulations to the award winners and to all of the students with work on display."

Bennett's mixed-media piece "Leo" will be on display through Oct. 23 at the museum with the works of other students in the competition.

Artwork featured at the Best of SUNY exhibit was chosen by art departments across SUNY. The traditional areas of drawing, ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, and printmaking are included, as well as mixed media, photography sculpture and digitally produced works.
