Courtney DeLong volunteers in SUNY Oswego's Alternative Spring Break program

Courtney DeLong of Fulton, a senior majoring in wellness management at SUNY Oswego, took part in the college's 2017 Alternative Spring Break service program. She volunteered with Cass Community Social Services in Detroit, assisting with various projects at Cass Community Social Services.

SUNY Oswego's Office of Community Services offers Oswego students many different opportunities to volunteer and travel during Alternative Breaks in spring and winter. Ranging from international to local trips, these breaks allow students to explore while volunteering at a variety of different sites.

Dozens of students volunteered in March for Iowa Hartland Habitat for Humanity in Waterloo, Iowa; Shoals Habitat for Humanity, Florence, Alabama; Outreach 360 in Jinotega, Nicaragua; and Cass Community Social Services in Detroit, Michigan.

Admission to SUNY Oswego is competitive. U.S. News Media Group counts SUNY Oswego among the top public regional universities in the North for 2017, and the Princeton Review includes Oswego in its 2017 college guidebook "The Best Northeastern Colleges" and in its national list of "Green Colleges."
