Gaitri Rodhan wins scholarship at SUNY Oswego

Gaitri D Rodhan of Brooklyn has won one of 11 Empire State Diversity Honors Scholarships this year at State University of New York at Oswego.

She is a sophomore majoring in biology at Oswego. She is the daughter of Dilrani Rodhan of Brooklyn and Jewram Rodhan of Guyana.

This SUNY-sponsored program of direct aid seeks to attract and retain undergraduate students to SUNY campuses who have demonstrated high academic achievement and can demonstrate that they will contribute to the diversity of the student body.

Admission to SUNY Oswego is competitive. U.S. News Media Group counts SUNY Oswego among the top public regional universities in the North for 2015, and the Princeton Review includes Oswego in its 2015 college guidebook "The Best Northeastern Colleges," as well as its 2015 list of "best value" colleges and universities nationally. Kiplinger's also named Oswego a Best Value College for 2015.

A 154-year-old comprehensive college in the State University of New York system, Oswego enrolls about 8,000 students in its College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; School of Business; School of Communication, Media and the Arts; and School of Education.
