Harvey's Double OT Game Winner Keeps Lakers Perfect

2016 Sep 15

Monica Harvey of Queensbury NY aided in the Oswego State field hockey's double-overtime 2-1 victory over Elmira College on the road Wednesday night.

Monica Harvey acted as the savior and hero on the evening for Oswego by scoring both the game-tying and game-winning goals. The four points she scored raised her season total to five and put her third on the team.

In the 90th minute of the game and the second overtime, Grace Rinaldi found Harvey at the top of the arc with a perfect pass. The junior continued the flow of the play and ripped the ball through the defense and past the goalie to notch the sudden-victory goal.

Earlier in the contest, in the 69th minute, with the Lakers trailing 1-0, Harvey carried the ball down the pitch and into the arc, placing herself in position to score. The Queensbury, N.Y. native set the precedent she would follow later and cracked the ball from the left side into the boards at the back of the goal for the tally.

Harvey finished the contest with eight shots, six of which came on-goal.

Sarita Charap started and played all 89:48 in goal to earn the double-OT victory, her fourth overall win of the season. The Ocean City, N.J. native notched five saves.
