Kelsey Henderson and Laker Women's Lacrosse Earn Recognition from IWLCA

The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWCLA) and Zag Sports has named two Oswego State athletes to its annual Division III Academic Honor Roll list. The IWLCA has also recognized the entire squad as one of 276 teams on its Academic Merit Squad list. Recipients of this recognition must post a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year, with Kelsey Henderson of Cazenovia NY helping the Lakers achieve that mark.

Titanic and Gabriel were also honored for their efforts in the classroom and were both crucial pieces of the 2016 program-record tying squad. The team notched 12 wins, matching only the 2000 and 1997 lineups for single-season victories.

Titanic accumulated a 3.52 GPA and earned a Bachelor's of Science in business administration. The Buffalo, N.Y. native also completed her degree with minors in communication and social interaction as well as health science. On the field during the 2016 season, Titanic started all 16 games and caused 10 turnovers while collecting 13 groundballs. Over her four-year career on defense she appeared in 44 contests.

Gabriel graduated in the spring with a degree in philosophy and also earned a minor in logic. The Lancaster, N.Y. native built up a 3.81 cumulative GPA during her four years. In 2016, Gabriel turned in an impressive season on the turf, culminating IWLCA All-Region recognition. She started in all 16 games and tallied 47 goals, including a career-high six against Fredonia. Gabriel also earned recognition from the SUNYAC and Oswego on multiple occasions.

The IWLCA honors student-athletes from nearly 150 different colleges. In order to be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. Zag Sports has been serving the world's best lacrosse teams for nearly 15 years as they journey abroad for team changing touring experiences in over 25 countries.
