Kimberlyn Bailey honored at SUNY Oswego convocation

Kimberlyn Bailey of Oswego was honored at SUNY Oswego's recent 2016 Honors Convocation, receiving the Paideia Award.

Bailey is a senior studying philosophy at Oswego. She plansto work at the National Institutes of Health in its post-baccalaureate research training program before applying to MD-Ph.D. programs. She is the daughter of Charin Smith and Kelly Smith.

The formal ceremony, complete with a procession of faculty and college officers in full academic regalia, is sponsored each spring at Oswego by Vega, the women's honor society.

The audience included faculty, staff, students and students' family members. SUNY Oswego honored more than 100 students at the ceremony.

Admission to SUNY Oswego is competitive. U.S. News Media Group counts SUNY Oswego among the top public regional universities in the North for 2016, and the Princeton Review includes Oswego in its 2016 college guidebook "The Best Northeastern Colleges" and in its national list of "Green Colleges."

A 155-year-old comprehensive college in the State University of New York system, Oswego enrolls about 8,000 students in its College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; School of Business; School of Communication, Media and the Arts; and School of Education.
