Oswego Paullette of Yablonski honored at SUNY Oswego convocation

Paullette A. Yablonski of Oswego was honored at SUNY Oswego's recent Honors Convocation, where she received the Norman E. Whitten Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in Anthropology.

Yablonski is a member of the class of 2013 studying anthropology at Oswego. She is the daughter of Julia and Paul Yablonski of Oswego.

The formal ceremony, complete with a procession of faculty and college officers in full academic regalia, is sponsored each spring at Oswego by Vega, the women's honor society.

The audience included faculty, staff, students and students' family members. SUNY Oswego honored 111 students at the ceremony.

Admission to SUNY Oswego is competitive. U.S. News Media Group counts SUNY Oswego among the top public regional universities in the North for 2013, and the Princeton Review includes Oswego in its 2013 college guidebook "The Best Northeastern Colleges," as well as its 2013 list of "best value" colleges and universities nationally.

A 152-year-old comprehensive college in the State University of New York system, Oswego enrolls about 8,000 students in its College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; School of Business; School of Communication, Media and the Arts; and School of Education.
