Sahar Rajput volunteers during Alternative Winter Break

Sahar Rajput of Syracuse, a graduate student majoring in (non-degree at this time) at SUNY Oswego, took part in the college's 2017-18 Alternative Winter Break service program. Rajput volunteered with Project Lazarus in New Orleans, Louisiana, a nonprofit organization that provides transitional housing to people living with HIV/AIDS.

SUNY Oswego's Office of Community Services offers Oswego students a variety of opportunities to volunteer and travel during Alternative Breaks in winter and spring. Ranging from international to domestic to local trips, these breaks allow students to explore while volunteering.

Dozens of students volunteered in December-January at Habitat for Humanity in Omaha, Nebraska; Project Lazarus in New Orleans, Louisiana, for people living with HIV or AIDS; and building homes in Elizabethtown, Kentucky;
