CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) released its Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 19, selecting four Oswego State athletes. Sarita Charap, Monica Harvey, Emma Geyer and Melissa Siegfried represent the Lakers by receiving recognition from the conference.
The Oswego State women's soccer team downed the Clarkson University Golden Knights 1-0 on Friday afternoon. Oswego improves to 3-1-1 on the season and hands Clarkson its first loss of the season (4-1).
OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Oswego State volleyball team made quick 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-12) of St. John Fisher College on Wednesday night in Max Ziel Gymnasium. Oswego's victory moves the team to 6-2 on the year while the Cardinals drop to 3-6.
The Oswego State field hockey team moved to 4-0 for the first time in over 12 years after defeating Elmira College 2-1 in double overtime on Wednesday.
Oswego State field hockey moved to 3-0 on the year with a win at home over Wells College. The Lakers were led by Katie Reynolds' four-points on two goals and an assist. Kendra Walker, Grace Rinaldi and Jordan Sheehy each scored while Lacey Woite and Julia Calandra recorded an assist apiece. Junior Sarita Charap made five saves for Oswego in the win.
Grace Rinaldi's goal with 1.2 seconds left in regulation sent Oswego to overtime at home against Houghton College. Just over four minutes in, transfer-sophomore Katie Reynolds notched the sudden-victory goal in OT, giving the Lakers a 3-2 win over Houghton - the program's first win in a season-opener since 2009. Jordan Sheehy assisted on Reynolds' goal while Monica Harvey dished an assist on Rinaldi's game-tying tally. Sarita Charap made four saves to keep Oswego in the game throughout the contest.
A select group of students entering SUNY Oswego in fall 2016 have earned Co-op Scholarships worth $24,000 over four years. For deserving non-New York state residents, the total award can increase to as much as $60,000 over four years in combination with a Destination Oswego Scholarship. Oswego currently offers cooperative education experiences in 18 programs of study.
SUNY Oswego has awarded Presidential Scholarships to a select group of students who are starting at the college in fall 2016. The scholarships are $18,800 over four years -- $4,700 a year -- for students residing on campus. Off-campus Presidential Scholarships are $2,350 a year.

The Oswego State women's soccer team's season is just weeks away, and two individuals are returning with a new experience under their belts. Mary Morrison and Sarah Grupp traveled to Costa Rica for eight days in May for Beyond Sports' Fourth Annual Costa Rica Women's Soccer Tour.

Abigail Boyce of the Oswego State women's track and field was named to the Division III All-Academic list by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Boyce has received praise for her outstanding performance on the track as well as in the classroom. She joins the rest of her teammates, as the entire squad was regonized on the list of Scholar Teams of the Year.
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWCLA) and Zag Sports has named two Oswego State athletes to its annual Division III Academic Honor Roll list. The IWLCA has also recognized the entire squad as one of 276 teams on its Academic Merit Squad list. Recipients of this recognition must post a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year.
More than 675 transfer students have reserved places at SUNY Oswego for fall 2016, including several from Oswego County. Classes start Aug. 29.
The second-seeded Oswego State baseball team finished in third place at the NCAA Championship New England Regional following a 7-1 loss to No. 3 Tufts University on Saturday at Eastern Connecticut State University's Eastern Stadium. Oswego - the nation's seventh ranked team - wraps the year with a program-record 35 wins compared to just 11 losses. The Lakers made their second-straight NCAA Division III Championship this season and the program's fifth overall appearance, going 3-2 in the regional, earning its first NCAA postseason victory since a 21-20 triumph over Ohio Northern University in 1984.

SUNY Oswego presented scholarships and other awards to more than 100 students at the college's 2016 Honors Convocation. The formal ceremony, complete with a procession of faculty and college officers in full academic regalia, is sponsored each spring at Oswego by Vega, the women's honor society. The audience included faculty, staff, students and students' family members.
